Robotech Webcomics!

Remember this? Yeah, it was a poster designed for a proposed Southern Cross project which is in a hiatus because I want to ride on Shadow Chronicles' popularity (yup). Recently I've been designing concepts, designs and other stuff to prepare for the Shadow Chronicles Project.

This project will supposedly compose of a FANFILM, and a WEBCOMIC. I would seriously want to add other stuff, but this is all I can manage at this point. Anyway, what else can I contribute for the Robotech community at this point?

FANFILM

For the fanfilm, I haven't done any work on it simply because I don't have the film and any further production would be pointless.

WEBCOMIC

I am working on a new mini webcomic called "Birth of a Sequel". I picked the title not only because it is the name of the behind-the-scenes feature in the TSC DVD, but because that it would probably be the whole point of the new webcomic.

The story of the comic would revolve around Robotech characters discussing the future of the franchise with the mysterious "Creative Director" (CD). Not much is known about the CD, but he basically mastered the Robotech universe and is able to shape it as he pleases. Blame it on protoculture.

It's going to be a short series, or at least a short series where characters argue about who should be the main character and why. I might stop after a few panels simply because I haven't seen the film, and so forth.

Another obstacle I face is coming up with some good Robogeek jokes. I'm still wondering whether starting a thread about asking folks to help out would be useful because, frankly, none of you ever reply in any of my threads about my blog.

Now I could start a site for this sort of thing. I recall Nanashi (creator of the Macross: Gamma Crisis fan OVA) offering hosting services with his current site at www.robotechflash.com. If that works out, that would be the new home for my Robotech Webcomics. The problem would be promoting it... Hmm, how do you promote this thing beyond the Robotech Fandom forum? Ah! The Robotech Stuff forum! But well, beyond that, I don't have a lot of prospects. Maybe I could ask... err... hmm... Aw, if only RDF Underground were still alive. Damn! Mr. Meadows doesn't seem the least bit interested in my works so I'm not quite sure what he'd say about that. My humor is pretty weird, so it might not have mass appeal.

Maybe I'll advertise in Tokyopop! Yeah! They have a place for Manga and stuff. But then, the humor I would be using would require some knowledge of the new film and the 85 episodes so that might now work.

Which means this series has to be even shorter than originally planned so I can move to something else. So I can move to a Southern Cross Project or something.

But anyway, these are two competely unrelated WEBCOMIC panels I have made so far. The first is a comic I made around the time of Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles. Weird, huh? The second is a new one I made - just in time for the film. Oddly enough, that comic is named "Sorry Dan Woren". I think the comic speaks for itself.
