News From The Fandom: Robotech Live Action Novel
While I try to see if anyone is interested in helping me out with my latest fanfilm project, I suppose I could talk about my good acquaintance Aaron, creator of the Robotech Live Action Novel.
The poor guy is busy taking care of his cute little baby at the moment, so who knows how long it would take for him to get back at the production track. For now though, lets take a brief look at this lil' project.
BACKGROUND
The Robotech Live Action Novel (RTLAN) is oddly enough, not Aaron's first foray into this sort of thing. He's done quite a few projects in the past on stuff not related to Robotech. You can find some of this previous works on his main weblog thing (http://digitalcole.net/main.htm). His works are visually interesting, with an emphasis on the gritty aspects of the characters and backgrounds. You can also look at his very distinct art on his real blog (http://digitalcole.blogspot.com/). There's something about the man's style that's really cool, and I really admire it a lot. Kinda like that wavy-style artist who drew a couple of covers for the failed Robotech: Invasion comics and other Genesis Climber Mospeada art.

As for the RTLAN, it's a project that's shaping up to be one of the best looking fan-made production to date. Its vivid colors manages to capture the spirit of the anime in a way that no fan project could.

Good ol' Aaron achieved this beautiful effect by compositing live action elements, action figures, and Photoshop backgrounds. The end effect is quite beautiful. The guy once asked me whether I could play a guy in a CVR-3 armor, but I politely declined! Man, that would've been cool though.
Story-wise, there isn't much that's been revealed so far. Suffice to say, it takes place during an assault on a massive hive. I had the privilege of seeing an extremely early version of the project, and it shows a lot of promise. The action sequences were a bit rough, but the promise of seeing Hovertanks fight alongside classic Destroids and Alpha fighters is not something any true Robotech fan would want to miss. Since this isn't official or anything, Aaron could afford a helluva lot more creative freedom than say, Tommy Yune - and that's not really a bad thing.
I truly recommend you to check out the links I mentioned, as well as his blog. It doesn't seem to be updated at the moment, but we can hope that it would be in the near future. Good job, Aaron!!
